<aside> 🍎 Hello! I'm Aroti Roy, a language tutor. I live in West Bengal, India. For the last two years, I’ve been a translator for foreigners. While translating for foreigners and helping them adjust to life in India, I’ve gained a passion for teaching foreigners Hindi and Bengali.

I teach language using the Growing Participator Approach (GPA)—a powerful, immersion-based method that helps you understand and speak the language through real conversation, not grammar drills. I create a space where mistakes are not just allowed—they’re part of the process. Not to mention, we can have fun in this process! I teach with patience, giving you time to build confidence as you begin to speak. But I also offer clear, timely correction when needed, helping you to have accurate pronunciation when you speak. It’s a balanced approach: gentle enough to build confidence, firm enough to keep you progressing.
This is not a quick, speak from the first class- type solution. It is slow and steady, but rich in Rewards!
In the beginning, you’ll start by hearing simple phrases like “This is a man” or “Where is the woman?”. Then when you are introduced to pronouns, the vocabulary about people are combined, and you’ll hear phrases like “I am a girl” or “He is a man”. Then after that, you will learn some basic commands like stand, sit, and run. Again, combining with what you already know, you’ll hear “the man is running” or “the girl is sitting”. Each new layer of vocabulary is combined with what you’ve already learned, reinforcing earlier words in fresh contexts.
Through lots of guided listening and meaningful interaction, listening comprehenion and speaking begins to flow naturally. It’s not memorization—it’s immersion.
